Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) provides training for youth, individuals and organizations to understand mental health and related  issues through peer support, education and advocacy.

MHFA will go over updated information on Youth or Adult and mental health. You must commit to complete the course. It is required you take a pre-quiz. It must be completed, and the instructor will  receive notification upon completion.

Then there is an 8 hour interactive in-person training. Upon completion you will receive  your 3-year certification. Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis.

In the course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and
where to turn for help. Topics include:

  • Depression and mood disorders
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Trauma
  • Psychosis
  • Substance use disorders
