New Year, New Opportunities! JANUARY 2020
We're off and running administering a new grant received by Kids Hope Alliance to expand access to care for children and youth experiencing severe emotional and mental health issues. The new award allows us to continue to broaden our reach with behavioral screening tools, techniques and training to help more kids live healthier lives.
As we look ahead, here are some of our 2019 highlights:
- Training 200 pediatricians who will be able to identify, treat and manage mental health conditions within their practices through the Collaborative Care Model.
- Serving 390 children with comprehensive physical and behavioral health care last year as a result of our Medical and Behavioral Health Home, the Pediatric Wellness Center at Sulzbacher.
- Providing 400 youth with programs and services resulting in an 82% reduction in psychiatric hospitalizations through High Fidelity Wraparound's intensive, holistic care coordination and services model.
As always, we thank our partners, families, professionals and advocates who continue to invest in our collective work to build a strong community where children and youth can thrive.
Here's to a healthy 2020!

Youth Participation on the Rise
For six years with support from the Partnership for Child Health, the Office of the Children's Ombudsperson has been helping children and youth lift their voice in the areas that matter to them. Youth training and collaboration with organizations like UNICEF USA has led to a 50% increase in youth councils and opportunities for authentic youth participation. To find out more about how Jacksonville is becoming a child friendly city, email Garry Bevel, Ombudsperson.
Juvenile Probation Officers
Receive CLC Training
Partnership for Child Health and the Department of Juvenile Justice collaborated to train more than 40 juvenile probation officers on Thursday, December 14, 2019. The interactive professional development opportunity focused on implicit and explicit bias, Terry Cross' Continuum of Cultural Competence, cultural humility and culturally responsive and trauma-informed strategies to work effectively with children, youth, and families with juvenile justice involvement. For training information, please email Selena Webster-Bass.
